It's funny that they present this as news - McDougallers known this for years!

But anything that spreads the gospel of potato power has got to be good.

Just sitting up here in deep frozen Wisconsin with an oven full of baked potatoes to fight off the arctic cold front we are having.

It defies common sense that potatoes would be bad. Why would they have transplanted them from Peru to Europe if they were bad? Did the Irish have pandemics of diabetes? The Poles? My grandmother, of Czech-Bohemian heritage, used to make potato dumplings for the holidays. Did the Czech have pandemics of diabetes back then? Of course not.

But back then the pork, pig fat, eggs and white flour were a whole lot more uncommon and-or expensive.
