Hello everyone:

Down 1.6 lbs this week.

Had to cut back on the treadmill at the gym as my hips were letting me know they were not happy. Need to find other exercises that are not going to irritate them. My challenge for the week.

I did start another change that I am hoping will turn into a permanent habit. I am a volume eater and a fast eater. I just seem to shovel the food in, 4 chews, swallow and repeat. To slow myself down I have started to use chop sticks! It is working. Now to keep it up.

Everyone have a great weekend and a super week. See you all next week. :D

Lol, LadyM, I know what you mean about eating fast! (and in volume!) Here's another tip, that makes me laugh every time I think of it. In one of his books (I think it's MWL), Dr. M talks about chewing your food 100 times (?), and that doing that releases enzymes that increase your enjoyment of the food. I remember posting here when I read that, and laughing that I'm lucky to get 4 chews in! Other folks responded that they can chew a lot more than that.!! So...I try, when I think of it, to chew my food a bit more. It does slow you down, anyhow!

So, if you want, that can be another tool in your belt, along with your chopsticks! More chewing!

Good Morning all

Weigh in day stayed the same -0-

I was really disappointed have to check my eating and see what made that happen. I think I will start a written journal to log each bite. (notebook) obviously the journal on here helps me to vent but doesn't work for keeping tabs on my actual eating

Onward and downward :D

Despite a stressful week (two positions were eliminated at work in my department of 6 people--both friends) and my birthday, I'm down 2 for this week (6 total for the month). Really didn't step outside the McDougall guidelines too much on the birthday (burrito with guac and few tortilla chips) and really didn't feel like stress eating after the layoffs (both firsts).

I use myfitnesspal.com to track my food. I just don't seem to lose without keeping track.

Hooray - focus and more discipline and more exercise = -1.4 this week!!
I ate a lot of raw and cooked non-starchy veggies!
Costco now has organic broccoli, green beans, and corn in the freezer section! Makes it so easy.

Have a great week everyone!!

Hello everyone... and welcome to just getting started folks! I am only two weeks beyond that myself, though not a newbie to McDougalling I am inspired through this group and other forums to make it a cleaner and cleaner way of life... getting simple sugars out and down has been a powerful change. Down 1.4 pounds this week.

I am finding my appetite changing as well and discovered something that is really helping me out.

Dr. M speaks of "stopping when full" and that has long been a mysterious thing to determine for me. I mean I know when I am too full, and I know when I am hungry, but... SO now I am stopping when I am "no longer hungry" maybe plus a bite or two if it's really something special.. Not worried, "what if I GET hungry" because I will just grab a potato wedge.

So passing that along, for anyone working on figuring how "full" feels, think about it as "no longer hungry".. it's much easier to FEEL.

Good to be here... let's keep it up!

FrozenVeg, thank you for mentioning your journal. I found it very helpful to see what someone else has eaten for this way of life. It doesn't seem as formidable now as it did - I don't have to know all kinds of recipes before getting started. YAY!

Good Sunday Evening!

We normally eat out every Sunday and I just wanted to post my normal meal at Logan's Steakhouse to maybe help those just starting out.
I get a salad with fat free vinaigrette, a plain baked potato with a grilled skewer of mushrooms and a grilled skewer of vegetables with NO OIL. I ask for a plate because it ends up being quite a bit of food. I mash the potato down and chop up the skewers and put on top of the potato. YUM! Very filling and NO OIL!
Hope that helps someone! :-D

If only I had tripped on my lunch run I might have bled out that last tenth of a pound. Alas, I remained vertical for the whole excursion and could not make it to 3. Still I'm inching closer to erasing the trip to Europe ( at least what I'm wearing of it).

1/22/2015 220.6 (-2.9)

Congratulations to all us losers. See; I get to join you this time.

Have a great week!
