Jazzed & on track w/ Mary's Mini

Postby eaufraiche703 » Wed Apr 29, 2009 3:36 am

Just felt it was time to put some "oomph" in the ol' effort, and started the mini on Sunday.

Down 6 pounds this morning - isn't that amazing? YAY!

Loaded up on gorgeous veggies and fruits at the grocery store Sunday - but then researched stuff and found that asparagus had 74 calories to a cup, and the romaine only had 6! Previously, I would've filled up on the asparagus 'cause it's so enticing, but now we're following Dr's directives more closely (it's the big salad and THEN a serving of the other veggies)

Also added 30 - 45 minutes on the stationary bike.

Yes, compliance over the long haul will yield the best permanent results, but sometimes ya just gotta add a great loss number to fuel the effort!

Anyone else on Mary's Mini right now?

:-D

asparagus is a favorite this time of year. I squirt with lemon and sprinkle dill over it and eat it cold. Of course I lightly steam first. enjoy

hi, txveg!

using white potatoes as the starch, so it's been a baker or hashbrowns for breakfast, a salad w/ a baked potato thrown in for lunch, and a baked potato and other veggies plus the salad for dinner.

really suspecting it's eating a lot of salad first that's making the difference here.... eating at least two cups before the other veg or potato.

down 8 pounds this week.

romaine is our friend!

you're right, Faith! asparagus is just such a treat. i love it neked, so a squirt of lemon would be even more fabulous!

This is great, this gives me inspiration! I just started Mary's Mini yesterday and I plan on staying on it for a week and then transitioning to MWL. I love hearing of others successes :-D

OK - starting on a modified MINI again tomorrow -- meaning baked potato for my starch except for oatmeal in the morning which fills me up. I think the salad suggestion - lots of salad before is a great one.
have a party tuesday night with appetizers but if i eat before i go -- i should be ok --
i love someone losing eight pounds on this in one week - i'd be happy with 3 or 4 - good luck everyone.

it's for 10 days, isn't it? but sticking mainly to one startch could work well as long as one wanted to eat that way (Jeff always writes that it helps to limit options when one is attempting to lose weight - and of course, he's brilliant!)
what would Scooby do?

day 1 Mary's Mini (going for 10 days)

Postby coverley54 » Thu May 14, 2009 2:49 pm

Your thread inspired me eaurfraiche,

B - steamed white and yam potatoes w/ onions. Asparagus, brocoli

L - potatoes, mushrooms with some ginger and cabbage added to veggies.

snack - 1/2 apple.

D - salad , raw veggies, 321 dressing and potatoes of course.

snack: slice of watermelon.

Steamed some large sliced carrots, aldente, poured 1/4c rice vinegar and a few slices of jalepenos over them, keep in fridge for snacking.

good, Chrissy!

the basic idea is to keep it really simple - that's the beauty of it. if it's really a routine (hash browns breakfast, baker for lunch, mashed for dinner.... or any mixy matchy of that) we will stop trying to amuse ourselves w/ our diet.

there are some threads of ideas for what to put on taters... that might help.

way to start, tho!
