Starting Mary's Mini for 10 days tomorrow, Monday, July 23

Postby Wendy » Sun Jul 22, 2007 6:28 pm

I am starting Mary's Mini for 10 days tomorrow, Monday, July 23.

This is my way of staying accountable, and having a place to turn to.

My choice of starch is brown rice, since I have it in the house, plus green beans. That's it!

I'll check in on Aug. 1 to tell you how I did.

Hey Wendy,

I'll do the mini with you. I'll jump on the wagon first thing tomorrow.

Best,

Glad to have you on board. I'm only weighing myself at the start and at the finish.

All of my energy is going into eating right, then exercise (20 - 60 min walk a day).

I'll check back on Aug. 1!!!

Okay, I said I'd wait until Aug. 1, but I weighed myself today...down 5 lbs. I love it!

All I am eating are potatoes and green beans.

The way I'm handling it:

1. Don't think, just eat. Food is fuel.
2. Walk just 30 min. --- 15 min. in one direction, then turn around.
3. When in doubt, have a glass of water, then munch on veggies.
4. Food doesn't equal love
5. This is just a 10 day kick start. It's not a way of life. Regular McDougall is my way of life. Until then...keep going and....

Once Aug. 1 comes around, I will go to MWL and join the other group doing it.

10 days

Postby Wendy » Thu Aug 02, 2007 10:08 pm

My internet connection was down.

Well, Mary's Mini was tough, but worth it.

At first you're excited to lose the weight, then you wonder, will I continue?

Yes, you do!

I'm now onto MWL.

On Mary's, I lost 10 lbs., just like they said!

It's really, tough, tho. Did I mention that? (just kidding, I know I did.)

Wendy, you did great! I started but then saw some good recipes on the forum and I got off just to try these new dishes. It was the black bean burger and the lentil and rice loaf. They were delicious. They are going into my favorites. I need to start all over.

Charlie

PS The lentil and rice loaf was just like real meat loaf...the look and the taste was so much like the real thing. The burgers are better for us than Boca and morningstar burgers and these black bean burgers were super.

Way to go Wendy. ten pounds in the ten days.

I don't know that I could do it. I do tend to lean toward one starch for a week, but gosh I do have others.

Good job sticking with it the 10 days! :D I'm on day 5 today and feeling really good. Haven't weighed myself so no idea there so far, but I definitely feel less bloated and can see a difference in my face and midsection (less puffy). :-D And I just feel better overall! Glad you got a good start back on the right track.

Wendy, will you tell me what you ate during this 10 day period. I think you said you were going to eat only potatoes and green beans. Is that right? Did you eat anything else?

That's all

Postby Wendy » Sat Aug 04, 2007 9:16 pm

Charlie,

I ate just potatoes and green beans.

Water for my beverage.

Keeping it simple was my main focus.

It is not fun. It's a diet. Diets are for short amounts of time.

My motto to keep me going was: Food is fuel.

I boiled the green beans and baked the potato. No salt. No salsa. No pepper. Just plain and simple.

My body felt grrrrrrreat. The first four days was tough, because I stopped caffeine. So, what was right for my body felt soooooo wrong to my body.

I was mostly concerned about being depressed eating this way due to the deprivation factor. But, I said over and over again, "This is a diet. It's only for 10 days. Food is fuel."

I've tried to "mini" before and couldn't. This time, I was determined to complete the 10 days.

Thanks, Wendy. It is tough with all of these good recipes coming in on this Board. I'll just need to make up my mind to commit to it for the 10 days.
