I love reading these stories...real life...real successes ..I thank you all for posting these to share..whenever I refer a friend to the site I make sure they read some of the real people stories.....I have only done this now for 8 weeks...but I feel as though this is the best I can do for myself and me.... I thank you! for all you do!

I do that, too, Gin, when people ask me, I say be sure & read the Star McDougaller's stories. It is much easier than saying oh, give up meat & dairy & fat. Ha,ha. I think if they get the foot in the door with the success stories, they are much open when they hear what they have to give up.

I love reading them, too. I have a few favorites.

Personal testimonials should never be the only reason anyone does anything. You can find (pay) people to say and do most anything. But I have found the Star McDougallers I have met to be the biggest reinforcement to following this program. I hear Dr. McDougalls words but if I didn't see living proof of those words they wouldn't be as powerful and I wouldn't be able to put as much faith in them.
I'm fairly regular in going to the Advanced Study Weekends since Santa Rosa is here in my backyard. I always see 4 or 5 Star McDougallers at the events and it's like a homecoming for me. As the years go by they all look great and I'm more convinced that the program is a long term proposition with long term results.
I still get renewed reading the stories and especially when a new Star McDougaller is posted. But let me tell you, there are many people that would qualify floating around out there and I have met so many whose stories would be equally inspiring. In a way we are all just a continuation of that experience Dr. McDougall had on the big island of Hawaii as he saw the contrast in the eating habits and health of the people there. He would be the first to say those early immigrants were the original Star McDougallers and they were simply doing what they learned so long ago. Nothing really has changed and there is nothing special about Star McDougallers except they eat old school.

I found, and still find, the testimonials were a big part of my motivation and reason to follow this way of eating. As Jim says, you can find success testimonials for almost any weight-loss diet and health solution out there. But the stories here sound like real people, making a change in their lives that was real. It made it sound so possible--so do-able--that it gave me the confidence to make the effort to do this well.

The other thing that the testimonials give us is the definite indication that there is NO PURCHASE REQUIRED! So many other plans for weight loss or health improvement require turning your credit card number over on a regular basis in return for what might be good or dubious advice and products, as an secret window into whatever is being promised. Doctor McDougall makes all of this information, and the "secret" to the good health promised, available to us all for the reading! The secret isn't a pill, a beverage, or a club to join. The secret is as plain as the noses on our faces, and on the faces of the folks who have stepped up to give testimonials, to say, "Hard or easy as it has been, this is what I did, and this is what happened!"
