Intermitant Fasting Redux?

Postby jay kaye » Thu Oct 24, 2019 8:37 pm

Jeff

I was reading an online comment from an attendee of the last 3 day intensive weekend and she says that Dr. McDougall spoke about and recommended "intermittent" fasting as a last resort if the regular plan wasn't working. I know he has mention full fasting at True North in very extreme cases. Has he changed his position or did she misunderstand and are your comments in the link below still valid. Can you clarify?

TIA
J

It is hard to say without knowing context and actual comments but no, we do not recommend intermittent fasting, as outlined in the threads on it.

We recommend the regular McDougall Program. If someone is having problems and not reaching their goals, we recommend the MWL program. If needed, they can do they Mary's Mini. All are based on eating when hungry until comfortable full.

We also do not recommend eating when not hungry, which is an issue for many. People eat all day based on external environmental cues, not internal hunger/satiety cues. Cutting that out and restoring normal eating patterns based on hunger/satiety, is recommended but that is not IF.
