Good for you Annette, game on for me too. Decided it would be helpful for me to do a January challenge. So it will be no oil, sugar or alcohol. I feel like I just need a reset as I ate some chips and junk again last night. Looking forward to a month of very simple eating and grocery shopping.

Yes, I also agree locking up food is quite extreme, but Chef AJ likes to say do whatever it takes to be successful. Like moonlight, if I don’t see it I’m not bothered by it.

Happy New Year, Everyone! I’m really looking forward to this new year. My only resolution is to continue doing what I’m doing. All the changes I’ve made, although they may have seemed like sacrifices at the time, have all paid off in ways that have been way more than worth it. It's not perfect MWL but it's as close as I can be right now.

Serene, weight-loss dieting is toxic for me too. It always seemed to backfire into overeating. Love the intuitive eating concept. It looks like you're doing great!

Tuesday:
B: green tea, 1/2 grapefruit, 1/2 banana, mixed whole grain cereal, flaxseed
L: kale and other vegetables, rice, beans, 1/2 sweet potato
S: 2 kiwis, persimmon
D: sweet potato, corn, beans, kale, collards, cauliflower, 1/2 apple
Meditation: 20 min.
Exercise: walking 15 min., Tai Chi 45 min., elliptical 20 min.

Wishing everyone a stellar year and much success!

I think I'll try updating my meals eaten in the evening, it's so hard to remember the next morning.

Today's menu:
Breakfast - oats, blueberries (and I caved in and had my salt and stevia)
Lunch - potatoes and ketchup (organic...does that count?)
Dinner - brown rice, dal, cut up veggies, and some hummus (with tahini in it)
Snack - 3 cuties

No exercise. Tomorrow I hope to finally get back to the gym after 3 weeks of dealing with a cold/cough. I finally think I'm well enough, though tomorrow's class is a spin class. I'll take it quite easy.

Hello Everyone,

I hope you don’t mind if I jump in here. I could definitely use some accountability. I had a very successful day yesterday. Here is what I ate:

B: Banana
L: Huge Chopped Salad with Berries, Oat Groats, Navy Beans & Flavored Balsamic Vinegar
D: Roasted Veggies & Potatoes w/ Melissa’s Cheez Sauce
S: Banana

I also did 30 minutes of my Miracle Mile walking DVD. Like, Annette, I think I’ll try to do this in the evening each day. I look forward to getting to know all of you. Here’s to everyone’s success in 2020! :-)

Happy New Year!
New Decade! woot!

Doing fantastic so far! The past is behind me. I did the best I could to keep sane after Christmas Day, and got insane a few times, but that's all over and I'm starting on the ABSOLUTE best foot.

D: no dinner last night...huge, off plan lunch for New Year's Day with my mom, my brother, his wife, and Wylie. Wylie cooked a high fat traditional German meal.
B: broccoli oats; cuties oranges
L: chili and rice

Exercise: 45 min yoga
Meditation: 45 min during yoga; quiet in my car driving to work
JUST DON'T EAT IT

Happy New Year!! 2020 Woot! Woot!
Let's rock this year with ground breaking, earth shattering positive changes in our health!! Onward we go!

I'm psyched up for this challenge. What is it about having a clear starting line, like January 1? New beginnings? Optimism that we can shed old lingering habits that drag us down. I'm feeling lots of positive energy - I made it through the first day!

My goal is to use the MWL plan, get my BP under 120/80, increase exercise, and Be Happy. :D

I hope you all have a great day and stay on your plan.

Welcome, Aprincess! Glad you could join us. :)

Moonlight, good job making it through your first day! Your goals are very similar to mine.

This is what I ate yesterday:

B: green tea, teff & buckwheat, 1/2 grapefruit, flaxseed, blueberries, 1/2 banana
L: split pea soup w/kale, curried broccoli and rice, carrots, 1/2 apple
D: split pea soup w/kale, sweet potato, curried broccoli and rice
Meditation: 20 min.
Exercise: 38 min. brisk walking

Other than the flaxseed, it was a straight MWL day. I'm finding that for me the way to weight loss is the same as the way to health and well-being. Fortunately! I am so done with being miserable just to lose weight.

All the best to everyone for a smashing start to the new year! :-D

Annette - so funny about the oats. My kids love it! They’ll even eat it dry, straight from the container. So gross!

I’m staying the course. Nothing exciting to report, just eating the same things. Made hoppin’ John, cabbage and cornbread for New Year’s. I love it a little too much. Going to have the toots for sure.

Ok, so I forgot to post last night. Lol

Here is what I ate yesterday:

B: Banana
L: Huge chopped salad with oat groats, navy beans, and flavored vinegar
D: 3 Bean Chili over Steamed Baby Red Potatoes
S: Banana and a handful of Pistachios (ugh  )

No exercise today. I simply ran out of time. I have to find a way to get it done early in the day before life happens.

Yesterday’s food:

L: stuffing with kale, corn and black beans
S: banana with peanut butter
D: can’t remember, but after that oats with blackberries, cinnamon and cloves

Exercise pickleball. Eating simple is really working well.

Um...today wasn't the best, and it's only Jan 3.
Breakfast - oats, blueberries
Lunch - at a restaurant - salad, garbanzo beans (brought from home) and balsamic vinegar (restaurant had it), glass of wine
Dinner - Mexican restaurant (so super greasy) portabello mushroom fajitas. I ate vegetarian, though not vegan
No exercise - still sore from yesterday

So, here’s today’s food.

B: Oatmeal, strawberries, blueberries, flax seed, almond milk
L: Some steamed baby red potatoes and small bowl of soup
D: Instant Pot Potato Soup & Roasted vegetables and mushrooms
S: Banana and UGH Pistachios

But, the Pistachios are gone now and they won’t be replenished! No exercise today. I’m fighting some muscle/arthritis/hip issues in my left leg and today was a bad day.

Here’s to a better day tomorrow.
