That is a lot on your plate, I will be thinking of you and praying for you, Wish they would get it too! But we can only do so much as the mommi or the wife.
Good for you to staying the course. My DH is getting is slow but sure, and I have to cook his food separate from the rest of us, myself and 2 sons. But it got easier and now it is a breeze. that old sweet poison does not tempt me at all, I look at it as poison and the devils' spawn practically... sweet slime, slobbery horrid stuff now!!
I have lost about 60 lbs and never thought I'd be in the 150s ever again. cured my NAFLD!! Feel great!! Wt loss is so good for the knees and back, ankle, that I know I will never start back to the SAD way of eating again.

yeah his sugar was way bad...they gave him a one a day dose of insulin and it was down to 601 the other day but the day of his surgery it was back up to 702. He can't really get more doses until he gets his meter to measure things so he doesn't go too low. We are mailing him a kit today. He has a lot to learn in a short time. He is really scared right now and in pain with his legs. Hopefully he caught it in time. I live over 2000 miles away so trying to help long distance. :(

IMO, your son should make his whole life right now about learning to manage his diabetes. Hope it will be a turning point for him. Dunno about the Tamiflu...maybe they should get flu shots next year!

true...they should. I debated about it but got them since my dr. wants me to always get them. Better than having the flu. Haven't heard from my son all day.

I usually get a flu shot every year, after getting horribly ill with flu one time. I was weak from it for years afterward. That made a believer of me. However never got around to the shot this past year-- so far so good, although I am not around the public a whole lot. I also got the shingles vaccine and am glad I did. Still remember the polio epidemics as a child and the terror that spread thru the neighborhood every "polio season".

Hope your son is ok.

I remember the 1950's..My mom wouldn't let me go in the water or anything back in those days. I had friends in iron lungs. We had airraid drills and fire drills. Like it would help anything. NOT! :D

Hahaha, oh yeah, "Duck and Cover" in case of the "Atom Bomb"! Yeah, like that would help... :\ The Iron Lung was something to be really afraid of (for real)

hi Nancy...It's been so long since I checked journals, I didn't even know you started one on Jan 1

it's VERY alarming, your son's diabetes numbers. I've never heard of a BS that high without a coma in there somewhere. My friend Bill's numbers get into the 500's and that scares me big time...is this the same son you've been helping long distance for such a long time? Bless you, it's so tough when our kids are troubled, isn't it?

good on ya for quitting smoking AND for your consistency w/the Plan! yayaaayaya for YOU!

keep going :)

Buns....have been completely onplan but not with the smoking. Still having problems with that. Will try again when my son is doing better. Right now it is too much stress. Yes it is the same son that has been having problems for 6 years. The only problem is I can't afford to do the Chantix again so I will do it soon with the nicorette. I am sick of it. I can feel it. Get tired more easily! :D

Great pics, NancyG. I'm jealous. :-) Your hot weekend sounds lovely to me. We are having a spring storm- temps just barely above freezing, wind, rain, the works. And I'd planned to get out and walk/jog a 5k today, so that idea is scrubbed. No solar cooking around here today.

And I love your shirt!! :-) Eat more kale- that's great. Where did you find something like that?

Blessings,
Jubilee
