Hi Kirk,

Sorry to hear you have been in such pain! Hope things improve for you soon.

I'm sure Jeff's DVD on label reading will be so helpful for you and Jeanette. In the meantime, a really easy "rule" for shopping is not to focus so much on the % fat in a product, just go straight to the ingredients list. If it says "oil" of any kind, put it down. Easy! :)

Take Care,
Becky

Hi Kirk,
I just read your entire journal this morning. I used to keep up with everyone’s journal more frequently but in recent months I’ve been dealing with this stupid peripheral neuropathy and having trouble sleeping. I also have sleep apnea and when I don’t use my CPAP machine or if I lose sleep due to pain I get stupid. It’s hard for me to make decisions, figure stuff out, and it’s hard for me to read much. After a few paragraphs I start having trouble comprehending what I’m reading or rereading.

Anyway, I had a pretty good night last night and I’m glad I was able to read through your journal. I think you and I have a lot in common & I hope I can support you in your journey. I love the way you write and I’m impressed with your openness & willingness to share. I’m also going to send you a personal message. Best wishes.

Good job on the loss! So sorry about the pain. I know all of us wish there was something we could do to help.

Kirk, you will be a welcome addition to the MWL thread. I think most everyone there is there for weight loss and you're doing that even if you aren't totally "MWL compliant" as you say. Maybe the thread should be retitled as the weight loss thread, but MWL is easier to type quickly!

You're doing great. :)
It IS the food! :unibrow:

Your issues....

Postby f1jim » Tue Jul 07, 2009 11:37 pm

Takes me back a couple of years to when I was having chest pain and associated issues related to the heart disease. My good friend would sit and listen to me go on about all this and would just look me in the eye and say..."Damn, you're a mess!" Then we would both laugh. If I didn't I'd want to cry. Hopefully a lot of this will pass soon. You are in our thoughts. Till then....
Damn, you're a mess!

Kirk, hope you are doing better today. I wonder if you are experiencing a healing crisis? You can find many references to it online. Here's just one of the many:

Drink lots of water to keep flushing your system and eat food in its freshest form possible, i.e., avoid ALL processed foods, even fat free or McDougall cups for a few days. Take care!

Hi Kirk,
The temperature thing sounds strange and kind of scary. I’m glad it went away.

On the MWL thread, you can keep your regular weigh-in day if you want and just report on Thursday like Mrs. Doodlepunk said. Good job on the 3 pound loss this week. The iced tea sounds like a great idea for summer. Talk to you soon. :)

Kirk, how are you feeling today? Hope things are going better and you are feeling a bit less poorly. Any change in the lymphedema? Hope you're getting to eat some fresh (or frozen - just real) veggies and fruits. And water - help flush your system.

If you leave the water in an open pitcher after you filter thru the Brita, the remaining chlorine should evaporate within a few hours to a day. Hopefully, that will improve the taste.
