Great job getting back on track so quickly! In my experience that’s the key—we’re all going to fall off the wagon at some point, so the quicker you can get back on, the tinier the “blip” was, and you did it with the very next meal. Impressive!

Exercise today: Walked 3 miles outdoors today. I didn't feel like it early this morning but waited a bit, drank a cup of tea and did the Wordle of the day (anyone play this? ) then I felt more like taking my walk and had no trouble doing that 3 miles.

Breakfast: old fashioned oats, blueberries and a splash of oat milk
Lunch: bought some vegetable sushi at the grocery store and had that along with a large salad with my hummus and some lemon/oregano balsamic vinegar for the dressing....also a baked potato with mustard
Dinner: bowl of veg soup, steamed veggies, stuffed pepper soup and fruit

Now, the reason I bought the sushi today was that I was VERY tempted to get something else richer while shopping. The thought just popped into my brain when I began my shopping. I wanted something from the bakery department and was saved when I saw they were all out (that happens to me every once in a while ) . When the temptation persisted I went to the sushi area and got the veg sushi that was pretty simple and bought that. As I was eating my purchase, I realized I was very hungry . Should have had lunch first and then gone to get groceries. Shopping makes me pretty tired. I had plans to do a lot of things today but I am just doing some laundry now. That is it.

Some struggles this week but mostly, I did pretty well. I must learn not to get too hungry. I kept up on my MWL check list and there are mostly checks for each meal (meaning I kept to the guidelines for the meals) . Will check my weight tomorrow but since yesterday was a tough day, it may have had an impact on what the scale says.

See you on the "Time and Adhearance " board tomorrow !

It is only 11:30 in the morning so I may be adding to this later today.

I got outside and walked three miles today. I start my walk with prayers then listen to Fr Mike 's Bible in a Year (less than 100 days to go !) then I listened to a Youtube video from Justina Froese. Justina was taught by Dr Lisle and her short videos are very informative.

Breakfast: I cooked up 3/4 cup of old fashioned oats along with 1/2 cup of riced cauliflower. Blueberries on top. No salt added.
Lunch will be a large salad and a Japanese sweet potato.
Dinner will be veg soup followed by steamed veggies and a bowl of stuffed pepper soup.

I have a good amount of the pepper soup left over and I will freeze it in single portions because I am getting tired of it. I find that if I tire of a food I tend to search around and end up eating something I regret. I don't want to do that.

Today and tomorrow I will be cooking Brussel sprouts, potatoes, rice and steel cup oats. Chopping up broccoli too. Oh, I bought beets this week. the beet greens looked so good I had to buy them ! I will cook up those too

Two weeks from today is my son's wedding. I am holding myself together pretty well. Not too much worry as most things I am involved in are complete. I just have to go see the place that our rehearsal dinner will be and touch base with the manager . Will probably do this tomorrow.

Well, that wedding is a week away and I THOUGHT it was not bothering me but now I realize it is (oh BOTHER ! ) This last week was difficult for me with many slips involving sugar and fats. Today is a new day and new week! I do not want to feel lousy before, during or after my son's wedding so I must change things up.

Exercise today: went to the gym and walked for an hour (about three miles)

Breakfast: old fashioned oats and mango (no sugar or salt needed) I like cinnamon and cardamom on my oats
Lunch: large salad with my hummus and balsamic vinegar on it. I had chopped beets and a chopped pear on it too along with a Japanese sweet potato. I felt very satisficed with this.
Dinner: I plan on having zucchini soup followed by broccoli and brown rice. Probably an apple afterwards. If I am still hungry I will add a potato.

After lunch I got out my pens and did some zentangle drawing. I have noticed that when I draw, my brain doesn't think about food. It must use a different part of the brain or something but I can completely get into the drawing and food just isn't on my radar at all. I am going to try this during the week as afternoons are my tough time. It will help replenish my drawings too ! I like to send them out with birthday cards.

Exercise today: walked for 30 minutes outdoors

Breakfast: Buckwheat hot cereal with mango topped with cinnamon and cardamom
Lunch: large salad topped with half of a beet, large Japanese sweet potato, balsamic vinegar and my hummus, also about a half cup of black beans.
Snack: cold but cooked yellow potato with mustard and an apple. I don't think I was really hungry but was tempted to eat foods that I don't really want to eat so instead I went after foods that I know I like and really want to eat.
Dinner: Just made a batch of asparagus/cauliflower soup and will have a bowl of that along with steamed veggies and mashed potatoes.

the wedding is getting closer and closer. I am excited for it but also will be glad to get back to normal-ness afterwards. Trying to not think about it much. I have done everything I can. Got my car washed today and filled with gas so my oldest son can use it (OMG ! the price of a half tank of gas is crazy !!) Thursday I will order a balloon bouquet for the rehearsal dinner (decorations )and also pick up my oldest son from the airport. Getting my nails done then too. Friday my son and family come in from Illinois (haven't seen then since before the pandemic ). Rehearsal and dinner that evening. Saturday is the wedding , pictures and reception. That is the busy day ! Sunday will rest, say goodbye to my boys and their families and later will go to a late afternoon mass. Done !

Doesn't sound to bad, right? Why do I feel so tense about it ? I know I will relax when the day comes. Sorry you are reading through all this and thinking "what's the big deal??".

Best of luck and prayers for you, your son and his fiancée, and everyone else tomorrow! I should have said this yesterday because I bet you are all enjoying the rehearsal dinner right now!

thank you for your thoughts and prayer Trinity !

The rehearsal dinner and wedding went very well ! Today we are all unwinding and relaxing. The dinner at the wedding was Mexican and so very good ! They had a potato mix to use on the tacos and/or salad and it was delicious ! I want to copy it! A mix of white and sweet potatoes, I think. Of course there was meat as well and it looked like everyone enjoyed it.

My son and his wife are not dancers but they go to sword-fight lessons done in the traditions form. After their initial dance, they donned their face protectors, gloves and swords and did a sword-fight demo to some awesome music. The highlight of the night !! It was very fun to watch. We did not persist until the end of the reception as my husband had a headache and I was tired. It was really great though and well worth all the preparation !

This morning I was happy to have my usual steel cut oats and berries. Have to watch my grandson a little more the next two weeks so I probably won't get my usual 5-6 walks in the next two weeks but will certainly get out there as much as I can.

Have a good week everyone !

squealcat, would you be able to take your grandson on a walk with you? My 3 year old grandson loves going on a neighborhood walk with me. If your grandson is a baby, you could push him in a stroller. It's just an idea.

I'm so glad that all went well at the wedding!

Thanks for stopping by Daydream !

No, not able to take my grandson for a walk. He is "special needs" and has to use a ventilator 24/7 to help him breathe. I am so happy that I can help my daughter and son-in-law take care of him as I used to be a "special care" nursery nurse before retiring 5 years ago. Felix can ride in a stroller but it it a lot of trouble to get him out and sometimes he needs oxygen too. I wish it was easier for them.

Still in recovery mode from the wedding. I don't have my usual foods all prepared yet. Roasted some Japanese sweet potatoes and made a cheeze sauce today. Had some dental work today and my mouth is sore ! Salad doesn't sound good. Maybe will try tomorrow for dinner.

I walked outside this morning for three miles ! I was a bit tired after. I have not done three miles in a week or so but have continued to walk at least a mile and a half each time. I need to ramp it back up again and also get myself back to eating better. I get so fuzzy-headed when I don't eat right.

Tomorrow I hope to make a couple more things (plain potatoes and brown rice) to add to my collection of usual things I eat. I also need to cook up a batch of beans ! I will get it done !

Squealcat, it's wonderful that you can help your daughter and son-in-law take care of Felix, especially with your professional background. I take care of my 3 year old grandson during the week while my daughter and son-in-law work full time and it is my joy to do that for them. I also take care of my 7 year old grandson when he comes home from school. I love babysitting both of them!

Three miles is a great walk--bravo for you!

I try to do most of my food prep and batch cooking on the weekend so I can just grab it or heat it up and eat. I usually wash/chop veggies for salads, cook a big pot of dried beans, cook a pot of brown rice or some type of whole grain and make a pot of soup. We eat those leftovers during the week.

Our youngest son will be getting married in October and I still need to buy a dress for that event. I know I'll have anxiety about the wedding as the event approaches.

I was having a bit of trouble getting back on track because I didn't have the food I needed and like in my fridge. I kept less of my food around last weekend to make room for snacks for the family.

Today, miraculously, I got a text from my son-in-law that maybe I should not come over to help care for Felix since Felix's sister was home sick with a cough and sore throat. He works from home and said he had a light day today (work-wise). I took the opportunity today then to get a walk in and make all my starches for the week. Baked potatoes, mashed potatoes, brown rice (cooking now) and my hummus. That should help quite a bit !

exercise: walked 45 minutes at the gym

breakfast: steel cut oats and blueberries
lunch: large salad with my hummus and balsamic vinegar for dressing , a Japanese baked potato
dinner: ?? not sure yet. Steamed veggies (most likely) mashed potatoes with cheese sauce and maybe black beans followed by a pear

Supposed to watch Felix tomorrow. Will see what happens. He has a doctor appointment and I am to go help with that, I think. It is required to have two adults in the car when transporting him. If granddaughter is still sick then they may cancel.

I feel better now knowing that I have food in the house. The only thing missing is a veg soup and a pot of beans.

Exercise: Walked 30 minutes outdoors

Breakfast: old fashioned oats, blueberries, flax seed meal, splash of almond milk
Lunch : large salad, balsamic vinegar, my hummus, Japanese sweet potato
Dinner: (the plan) steamed veggies (Michigan asparagus is here !!) , mashed potato, cheeze sauce and maybe a pear for dessert

Going smoothly today. Did not have to watch my grandson as my daughter is home with Covid. My son-in-law is watching little Felix himself and working from home (don't know how he does it ). I was going to help him take Felix in for a check-up today but the doctor's office said to not come in and make another appointment. Maybe I will be able to help them out next week. His nurse returns the week after that. I normally just take care of him on Wednesdays.

My newly-married son just sent me a picture of himself in his Florida clothes. They leave for their honeymoon tomorrow. So happy for them !!

That is about it ! Getting my laundry done, did my grocery shopping done....all is well

Exercise : walked about 2.5 miles today. It is getting pretty hot here in Michigan this morning ! This afternoon the clouds will roll in and it is supposed to rain. I think it gets cooler again after that. Was glad to get in that walk. I used to always (or almost always ) walk 3 miles and I have not gotten myself back to that all the time. Today I weighed myself and I have lost 5 or 6 pounds since Monday ! All that water weight !! As I walked I realized that the water weight did not help me feel good when walking or doing my everyday things. It made my feet hurt, my legs feel heavy and my brain fog up. I hate that !!

I few times yesterday I almost grabbed a banana or some kind of snack. I was not hungry !! I just stated my non-hunger to myself and stopped. In the past I would have just eaten something without thinking. Time to change and free myself up. I want to enjoy my food and not be a slave to it. I also really don't like to make a lot of recipes. I realize that about myself. Once in a while I will throw something together but usually it is just cooking up my starches and buying those veggies that I like.

Yesterday I made up 3 servings of overnight oats with shredded zucchini, apples, ground flax seed and a small amount of walnuts, mixed with almond milk. I DO have to change it up a bit but nothing complicated. I have farro soaking now to cook for my next breakfasts . I am in the mood for black beans so I am soaking those to cook in the instant pot today. I need a hot pepper though so will get that at the store today. Most of what I make is using the instant pot. Very easy !

I am not sure yet what I will have to eat today besides the overnight oats. I may come back later to let you know.

-squealcat

The overnight oats were very good but didn't "hold me" for long. I ended up having lunch earlier and then added a cooked potato with mustard on it after that. I am fine now.

Breakfast: overnight oats with zucchini
Lunch: large salad with balsamic vinegar, my hummus and about a cup of brown rice on top. I had a small baked potato with mustard on top a little later along with a cup of tea
Dinner: steamed asparagus, mashed potatoes and black beans with cheeze sauce . I will have fruit afterwards

I will be back with the MWL program tomorrow (the Time and Adherence group ). I have kept up and read all their posts the past two weeks that I missed. The wedding is done and I am done fooling around with eating WAY too much of the wrong things. I have been reading about food addiction while wondering if I should join another type of group but really? Everything is included in the MWL 10 points including staying away (or limiting) sugar, and not eating bread or processed foods. Eating when hungry and eating unprocessed foods even if you THINK you may be hungry is the answer to getting rid of those nasty urges that plague those that have eating problems. I am staying with what I know to be the right and true road.

I spent 3 days watching my grandson so now it catch-up time here at home. I will make steal cup oats tomorrow and use things from the freezer until all my food supplies are made up for the week. I already have veg soup in the fridge. Getting a bit sick of that soup so after that maybe it will be salad or raw veggies as the appetizer before my lunch and dinner for a while.

Grocery shopping and planting flowers in my pots will be on the agenda for tomorrow along with laundry. It is supposed to be nice weather this weekend so I can also catch up on my walking. I heard a great YouTube talk on the benefits of walking so I am inspired to get in my steps !

I will maybe see some of you tomorrow on the MWL board tomorrow !
