Beginning this journey again

Postby ebonyeyes » Tue Jul 21, 2020 1:15 pm

Well I've decided to approach this lifestyle differently this time. In the past I stayed compliant for 4-6 weeks. Then I always return to the SAD WOE because I don't know how to cook flavorful nutritious plant meals. I know how to cook flavorful SAD meals, but I am absolutely clueless about how to prepare flavorful, starch-centered WFPB meals. So I have signed up for the 90 day online Forks Over Knives cooking course. While I won't make rich foods that involve nut butters and Avocados, I will strive to learn as much as I can about cooking techniques, seasoning with fresh and dried herbs, spices and the like. I have a host of chronic illnesses due to my morbid obesity. So this journey involves far more than learning to cook and losing weight. It involves reversing my diseases, reclaiming my life and feeling good once again. This journey is not a sprint. It will be a marathon. I'm starting at 347.4 pounds. My goal weight is 160. So here we go again.... This journal will help me stay accountable. Till next time have a good day. :-D

I'm in the same boat with you. We can do this!

Hi, you can do this!

While I didn't lose as much as you I lost a lot on this way of eating (testimonial in the link below) and it was great, for years . And then the creep began...it started with a bit of coconut cream and frozen fruit made into ice cream.....and ended up back being vegetarian. Still lots of home cooking, but the oils were back, and butter, and baking with eggs....it took a number of years to creep back to this point and I haven't really gained weight...but my health has taken a dive. So I too am back again.

Its so silly isn it? We know what to do and why and choose not to. Have you listened to Doug Lisle? At the moment I am listening to one of his talks or podcasts or whatever daily as I do my chores. I find him very helpful.

Planning also helps, although I am bad at it, and I also keep a list of compliant snacks on the fridge door, so when that moment strikes there is a nice list of good choices.
