Cushing's disease

Postby gigjc » Mon Oct 23, 2006 9:38 pm

My daughter has been diagnosed with Cushing's disease ( tumour on the pituitary gland ). Does anyone on this board know anything about this disease? If so do you think she should go with a pituitary gland operation? They may have to remove the gland, not only the tumor. This is what her endocrinologist recommends.

Was she given steroids in the past? This is something that you really should e-mail to Dr. McDougall...he usually answers his e-mails. I wouldn't hesitate to contact him for his opinion.

Maybe he can tell you if there are any safe alternatives to surgery, or if not, how diet may assist her in getting her health back on track, and keeping it on track after surgery.

Sorry you are struggling with this. Wishing you and your daughter well.

Thank you for your suggestion and for your good wishes. I did contact Dr. McDougall and he answered me and made a suggestion which we are looking at. It is not an easy problem to deal wih.

I would follow his advice to the T, without exception.

I hope it all works out okay.
