How to get started... with gluten and nut allergies?

Postby rnlamoureux » Fri Nov 05, 2021 6:56 am

Good morning everyone.

My wife and I are contemplating starting a plant-based lifestyle, but we have complications. I am a type 2 diabetic, so I'm not sure if that rules out pasta, potatoes, etc., for me. And my wife has a tree nut allergy, along with a gluten allergy/ sensitivity, so that takes a number of options off the table too. Many of the recipes that would otherwise be useful for things like pancakes, etc., use nut-based flours, which of course we can't use.

Is there a resource here on this site, or anywhere, that addresses trying to adopt a plant-based diet while also having to forgo tree nuts, gluten, etc.?

Thank you in advance all.

rnlamoureux, welcome to the forum! It is perfectly fine to be nut free and gluten free on the McDougall diet. Many of the recipes in this forum are both nut free and gluten free. There are also substitutions you can use for nuts and gluten items. You can browse the recipes here:
