Directions for the ticker

Go to tickerfactory.com and create a ticker. Make sure to put in a pin (password) and put the page in your favorites so you can update it when you weigh. Where it shows the codes, copy the code from the top box, bbcode box. Then come here and click on user control panel. Once in the panel, click on profile. From the side bar, click edit signature. In that box, paste that code you copied from the ticker factory into that box. Click submit and it is done.

When you update your ticker on the tickerfactory.com site, it will update the ticker in your signature line automatically! That is why you created the pin number/password code. Dont forget to bookmark the page.

But as you can see, only the url shows up, not the ticker... I put in the same address that I use for posting the ticker once.
Guess I will just keep trying, or just leave the url for now.

Avatar is not working out for me either... my image is 2.25 KB and it just keeps saying it has to be between 0 and 7.. huh? I think it is...

I know you aren't tech support, and I am pretty computer literate, but these have me stumped today.

Make sure those 3 options on the lower right side are unchecked! I forgot about that little tidbit. As for the avatar....I dont remember. I will do a search later to find out. Seems i hate to upload to a site, make it the right size then save to my computer.

DEBBIE, I figures out the ticker~ what it needs is to choose one of the things above, according to what it IS.. so the ticker needed me to choose Img and then... voila, signature is done. Maybe that is something with the Avatar too, I''ll try it.
Thanks!

I lost 4.1kg this week, I.e 9 pounds. Given the fact that I weighed in after a weekend eating and drinking in Dublin, after a pretty boozy 3 weeks, it is not that unbelievable. I am also traing for an ironman this summer. Next week, a 1 kg loss will be enough, as long as I continue in the right direction.

Wow! We need to clone you. After weeks of boozing and eating pub food, you are also training for an ironman. AND you used i.e. correctly. Most Americans still think that i.e. means "for example!"

No Pamela - it's never to late - jump right in next Friday or Saturday morning before Debbie posts the tally. Just give the weight you have lost from last Friday to next. Debbie just needs to know the amount of loss or gain each week. You can see how people choose to do that in their Friday/Sat posts. Happy to have you join us - the more the merrier and it's fun to share our progress and well the pitfalls - we have mostly all been there too!

Here is a nice explanation from a yahoo search:

jibba.jabba answered 9 years ago

i.e. means "that is"
it's from the latin "id est"
I like to eat vegetables (i.e. I enjoy their taste)

e.g. means "for example"
it's from the latin "exempli gratia"
I like to eat vegetables (e.g. carrots and broccoli)

Thanks Vegeloon. I have to admit this whole i.e. and e.g. thing is my pet peeve. The incorrect usage of i.e. and e.g. has confused me no end. I went back to school in my fifties and got a psych degree then a teaching license and I have sat long and hard trying to figure out the meaning of many exam questions, because invariably, i.e. was incorrectly used and should have been e.g. which of course completely changes the meaning of the question. You would think that a university professor would get it right, but no they are the worst culprits!
