I don't have a really dramatic story to share, but I am happy and proud that I have reduced my waistline and increased my fitness since re-committing to a vegan diet last year.

I thought I had reached my ideal weight about a year ago, when I weighed 125 pounds (BMI: 21.5) with a 32 inch waist (measured at the navel). But increasing my exercise while continuing to eat a lowfat, high-starch vegan diet brought my weight down even further. This week, I weighed in at 119 pounds (BMI: 20.4) with a 27 inch waist.

People are calling me "skinny", I finally met my goal of running a sub-30 minute 5K, and today I somewhat unbelievably fit into size 2 jeans. And all while eating bread, pasta, potatoes, and real sugar, never counting calories, and not feeling hungry or deprived. This is my diet style for life!

I have to disagree - that is a dramatic story! You go girl!
Now that’s what I'm talking about!

Aw thanks :-) Another 1/2 inch of belly fat gone today; now down to 115 lbs / 26 inch waist.

Julie,
Gawww! Another ½ inch!
If you don’t stop that you’re going to die young! Probably about a hundred (or more), but you’ll still be young!

 I'm not even trying to lose any more! I ate things like chocolate chip cookies and chocolate mousse every day this week (vegan, homemade, and oil-free of course). The running helps!

Very belated thanks. I've added 10 miles to my long run since this post! Six weeks to go till my first marathon!

I've successfully completed my first full marathon! I finished yesterday's San Francisco Marathon within the official six-hour time limit: 5:52:23. For the person who was always picked last in gym class, who was overweight and sedentary for half of her life, who didn't start running (or any other regular exercise) until age 28, and who always considered 26.2 miles to be an arbitrary distance, this was a Big Deal. Full write-up here.
