That is awesome about your jeans being loose.

Those crazy crash diets always seem to result in people gaining it back and then some. I think the way your clothes fit and how you feel is a great way to measure success.

Yes, loose jeans are great! My 36" jeans got loose, bought 34" jeans and they got loose, bought 32" jeans and now they are just starting to get loose! By the way, it's been more than 25 years since I've been able to wear 32" jeans! So BlueHeron, keep it up!

Thirteen pounds is great!! :-D Personally, I get super excited about five pounds gone! I've been a poky loser on McDougall more often than not, but the benefits of going slowly have been worth it: I'm learning what really works for me on this plan and know I can stay with it for life. I have a feeling you will experience the same thing. Kudos!

Way to Go! I'm now a big fan of Good Will and other thrift stores for clothes until I get to my final weight.

I've lost about 50 since october. Down to under 200 lbs and wearing size 36 or size 34 depending on brand.

This WOE has introduced me to the Goodwill and Value Village!

Not kidding. I have gone from 245 to 196 and the most expensive clothes I have bought were a pair of Costco $12.95 jeans because I needed a pair of 34 X 34s and couldn't find them at goodwill quickly enough.

I've found tons of stuff with tags still in them, including a Marmot parka for $24!

The only thing I don't skimp on is belts. Cheap belts are just horrible! Bought a decent one that was a wee bit tight when I bought it, and have used a hole punch on it twice.

Goodwill ROCKS. Even now I get 99.9% of my clothing there. It gets even better as you get smaller b/c no one else can fit in the clothes so there's more choice. ;) I get designer clothes, brand new stuff, etc. all the time.

I'm all in with the recommendations on Goodwill. Like ETesalle about 99% of my clothing comes from there or Salvation Army, St. Vincent DePaul and a couple local charity thrift stores. The lineup of quality brand tags in my closet is impressive.

When sizes change quickly (as in McDougalling) it's hard to spend a lot of money on clothes that fit for such a short time. Then you find the economy of thrift store-ing and you figure why change. You have to be a careful shopper and if you are looking for one specific thing that can be hard. It pays to be flexible when thrift shopping!

Careful indeed! Things I've learned. Check all zippers. TWICE! Check the back of pants cuffs to make sure someone didn't "walk off" any extra length. Check the zippers AGAIN! In the early days of my goodwill-ing, I brought home more than one pair of pants with the tattered cuffs...
