You can see my pictures here. I am very happy to have lost 75 pounds but I still wish to go a little farther. I am stalled.

Any chance you will share with us what you did exactly? How did you eat on a typical day? How heavy on the starches? Did you eat a lot of fruit or not so much?

I'd just be so curious to know what your grooves were that helped you to have the staying power to drop 75 lbs. If you're willing to share, of course!

Tell us about your journey, so that others may follow in your footsteps!

Also: You look wonderful. I'm happy for you! :)

The first 25 pounds was lost slowly over 1 1/2 year. I'm not sure when I first learned of McDougall, but it took me a long time to get to where I could really follow it and give up everything else. This picture was shortly after my baby was born.

1 1/2 years later when I was pregnant again I was desperate to do something because I always gained nearly 50 pounds with every pregnancy and had a terrible time getting it back off. I still didn't go with full McDougalling but over some time I got better at it. I lost 10 more pounds and then gained only 14 with the pregnancy! Yay! What a great event! So when my 7th child was born the beginning of 2012, I was a little above 200 so that is where my ticker started. Throughout 2012 I lost about 50 pounds. The closer I stuck to the plan the better it worked!

My best times where the MWL challenge in February this year, and whenever I do a Mary's Mini. I use potatoes more than anything else.
I like a variety of starches so I don't stick to just one very often.

It seems to me that some people on here really push the vegetables. I do not make out as well with that. I have to eat and eat and still want more to be satisfied. But a few potatoes works much better. Right now I have been feeling stuck. I gained 3 pounds back. I have had bread and off-plan food. So I am focusing on MWL and telling myself bread can be a treat once in a while like others would have cake. I have always really liked bread but once I gave that up my weight loss really improved. So now and then I get to wanting it but I don't stop with one slice. Oh well. It will have to be avoided for awhile.

Some favorite basics:
oatmeal with banana and/or brown sugar
brown rice with beans lettuce and salsa
potatoes and more potatoes
apples

I have had tremendous help on this forum. Especially those who list their plain basic food. Recipes bother me. I usually end up with something I don't feel like finishing. But with separate plain potatoes and vegetables I can enjoy my meal. I might mention Disorderly Lentils from the Quick and Easy Cookbook. I made it twice and still like it! I will make it again soon I am sure.

I cook all the time for my husband and 7 children. They eat a lot of beans and rice and potatoes and oatmeal but I include other things for them as well. Mostly home-cooked food.

Thanks for reading!

I also want to thank Dr. McDougall. This is the most sustainable way to eat. It is delicious. It works to lose weight and I don't have to be in the store constantly for more raw fruit and vegetables for some of the other diets I tried. Thanks so much for all the free information.

Thanks for taking the time to share what you did and what worked for you. I really do believe describing the implementation is one of the most helpful things any of us on here can post! An act of generosity, really.

Kind wishes for the remaining tweaks you have ahead of you! :)
