It is now a month since I started MWL and I have lost 13 lbs in that time (220 -> 207). Not too bad, but I haven't lost any in the last week. I am still hopeful that I will be able to get below 200 by the time I go on vacation on Jul 31st.

I did have a few glasses of wine last week which would not have helped. I have also been making some really tasty dishes such as black bean and corn salad which I always want to eat lots of. Back to the basics this week I think.

Wonderful progress! You have nothing to worry about re: not losing per scale, for a week. Please see this thread and many others for a topic often discussed: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=17397

Thanks afreespirit, I know you are right. My clothes are getting very loose so I know something is happening! I am confident the scales will show another good drop soon. I noticed that your weight ticker has been progressing very nicely too!

I spent some time today cleaning out my closet of some of my size 16 clothes, since I am now wearing 14, and even a couple of 12s. I am donating them straight away because I am confident I won't need them again.

I'm still finding this fairly easy going. The hardest part is going out. I usually decide to eat before I go and just have a drink while I'm out. So easy to make a good meal at home, so hard to find something suitable when I'm out!

I'm going to be travelling in August and Sept. That is going to be a bit of a challenge foodwise. For some of the time we'll be staying in holiday houses and with relatives so I will have quite a bit of control over food prep. I just have to put up with some questioning about where I am getting my protein etc. :-).

Today I'm eating sushi salad - brown rice mixed with various veggies along with rice vinegar and a little soy sauce.

I'm very happy today as I have arrived at my interim goal of 200 lbs nearly 2 weeks early. I wanted to get to that weight by the end of July. This is such an effective way of losing weight! I have lost 20 lbs since 29th May.

I have a "default" meal of microwaved potatoes, bagged salad and fresh salsa. I always have these items available and can prepare this meal in about 4 minutes. I do eat other things but I find it very helpful to have these to fall back on if I am in a hurry or don't feel like making something more elaborate.

My weight loss is slowing down a bit. I have been losing 1 or 2 lbs a week recently, but still steadily going down which is the main thing! I leave on a 6 week trip to Australia and New Zealand on Saturday. I'm planning to pack a couple of meals and some snacks for the flight. I'm not going to use this as an excuse to get off plan because I've been doing so well. I fully expect to come home weighing less than when I left :-D .

I went hiking today and it was so much easier to climb the hills without the extra 24 lbs!

I think I may have discovered that I have a problem with wheat or gluten. Since I've been eating MWL my diet has been mostly gluten free and I've realised that when I do eat wheat I get a stuffy nose and sore joints. Good to know! I really don't have a problem with staying off wheat. I love potatoes, beans, salad and salsa and would be happy to eat that for the rest of my life.

pnwgirl, congratulations on arriving at your interim goal--I am thrilled for you! I have been thinking that I may drop wheat from my diet, too.

Hope you enjoy your well-deserved trip. Have fun! :-D

The MWL plan is perfect for those of us who need to avoid gluten. You're doing great pnwgirl!

Having a great vacation. I haven't put on any weight! Not really losing any but I think the main thing at this stage is to avoid a gain. It is really hard to stick to 100% McDougall while traveling and staying with family and friends. I'm doing my best.

I am now back from vacation and ready to get serious about MWL again. We had a great trip. I got quite a bit of exercise with all the sightseeing and hiking. As far as food was concerned I just had to make the best choices that I could. I did OK as I lost a few more pounds while I was away.

I am hoping to be very close to my goal weight by the end of the year. I'm going to order a pair of size 10 jeans today as my size 12s are starting to get loose! I like to have the next size down ready to try on for motivational purposes.
