congrats on the new pounds lost.

I got a rice cooker as one of my gifts and we are going to start Jan 2nd. I plan to start with the 2 cup soup and salad with the 321 dressing.

As I mentioned, I am not needing to lose weight I am at 95 lbs. (I gained a couple of lbs over the holidays) but hubby needs this and we both want to eat better and more healthy.

I may make the Leek and potato soup this week to try it out.

Good job on the weight loss Kirk. Your perseverance is paying off. When I get frustrated at the rate of weight loss I try to remember Jeff N says "time and adherence" are what make you successful. You have got both going for you!

thanks Kirk,

I plan on trying out the rice cooker maybe tomorrow.

I made the leek and potato soup today and the 321 dressing for salad. Hubby thought it a bit too sweet (the dressing) so I may adjust the amounts to make it less sweet.

The soup was great and he is taking some to work tomorrow.

I had a visit with My GI doc today and I am up to 100 lbs...must be the turkey and dressing and sweet potatoes from the holidays. I can not eat much at a time just about a fist full but I can eat 4-5 times a day. AND I kept it down. Maybe the Chemo is going to do the magic that the standard protocol couldn't. I have experienced a bit of hair loss, which is disheartening as I do not have cancer, but my doc said anytime you induce Chemo it happens.

Keep doing the exercise. It will make you feel better. I can't do much as I have little energy still, but I did walk around our block a couple of times today, the sidewalks were clear of snow and the sun was shining. It felt good to have sun on my face.

Kirk - Congrats on the weight loss! That must feel good, eh?

As for the chafing - try taking a cool (not flannel) pillowcase and putting it so it prevents your skin parts from touching each other - it will help make you more comfortable. That red stuff generates heat and will just heat up anything it touches. And elevate, elevate, elevate for the swelling. Reminds me of a story.....

Anyway - it sounds like you are rocking out there in Las Vegas. I'm looking forward to hearing about your first adventure after you get more mobile - I feel it speeding up on you....

Have a great day.

Hey kirk! Just dropping by to see how you're doing. Looks like things are going okay, except the chafing...hey, being a woman (and thus having worn pantihose) and being pear shaped (thus with naturally large thighs) AND obese (thus having MONSTROUSLY large thighs ha!)...I do understand how bad chafing feels.

Now, I don't know if this would be helpful to you or not, but the mental image is simply too amazing NOT to suggest it, so here goes...ehem...

what helped me, and ended inner thigh pantihose chafing was...to put a "foundational garment" on over the pantihose...ehem...that is, a stretch girdle...hee hee...Now, if I want to (and I rarely do) I can wear pantihose with a stretch girdle over them, and go all day with nary a chafe.

sorry...like I said, there is an image that goes with this, which I simply couldn't resist...

okay...hee hee

may you find a REAL solution! ha! and you know as you keep on with this, all of these issues will be resolved  you're way doin it, man!

You're doing great! Good job with the exercise. :D

Yeah, it sucks to have to take days off from exercise. And it's frustrating. I always hate having to rest because something hurts in a way it shouldn't.

Hang in there! It will get better!
